Hi guys, I’m so excited that you are reading this as I want to share with you the heart of what I love to do and how I can help you and your family be prepared for the rest of your journey. If you haven’t already, please check out my video about the power of preparation.

For a while now I’ve been thinking about the importance of the power of preparation. Most of us like to prepare for an event, whether that’s going on holiday, starting a new job, or doing the grocery shopping.

However, there is only so much planning you can do to become a parent. You can talk to other parents and buy all the items you think you may need, but nothing can quite prepare you for the sleepless nights, the change to your routine, and the general joys of becoming a parent.

With this in mind, planning to become a parent of a child with neurodiverse needs is near impossible. You can’t press the pause button while you come to terms with your thoughts and feelings around your child’s diagnosis, or while trying to meet and advocate for your child’s needs, you just have to keep moving forward and figure it out.

That’s where I can come in. As an autism specialist and coach, your family is at the centre of the work that I do. I want to be able to provide the space for you to take a pit stop, to take a moment to think and reflect upon the journey you have taken so far. Time for you to question what it is that you need to enable you to continue the next part of the journey feeling equipped and supported.

As a result of the time I have spent supporting families with children with neurodiverse needs, I have recently launched a Family Coaching Course with a difference. I have professionally and personally attended a range of training seminars which support the theory behind learning needs, but they do not necessarily equip you, the caregiver, with the tools necessary to take on this journey. I am a strong believer in understanding our story in order to engage in our narrative, and this course allows for exactly that. We discuss your role as a parent and your families needs. Leading on from this we can then decipher the right support and strategies.

My support programme is challenging, but holistic, and can begin at any point of your journey, including pre-diagnosis. It can be a lonely and confusing time as you try and make sense of the diagnosis process, working with various professionals and understanding the uniqueness of your child’s needs. I seek to provide you with the right tools to embrace this uncertain time in your lives.

One participant on the course said:

My family and I recently attended one of Emma’s Family Coaching Programmes; to say it was life changing is an understatement. It opened up positive conversations about our communication in ways we didn’t expect, as well as provide us with insight and tools and techniques to support our little girl. But what was unexpected was it hasn’t only helped us with our ND little girl, but brought us closer as a family.

This feeling was echoed by all the participants and it was more than I could have hoped for as a response.

So how prepared are you? Are you ready to take on the next part of your journey? I am inviting you to take a pit stop with me and reflect on your present and future journey.

If this is something you would like to do then I’d love to hear from you. You can contact me via Instagram, Facebook or my website.
